Charleston Post 166 doubled up visiting Horry Post 111, 6-3, to take a 2-1 series lead in the second round of the American Legion Baseball playoffs on Wednesday at Cane Bay High School.

Post 166 blanked Horry 6-0 at Conway High School on Tuesday after falling 7-1 in the best-of-5 series opener on Monday at CBHS.

"Obviously we're happy with a 2-1 lead versus being down 1-2 going back on the road but this one is over," Post 166 coach David Horton said. "We've got to go back to work. My approach is to let the team know it's 0-0. We can't start looking ahead. That's when you get in trouble."

Game 4 is at Conway High School on Thursday.

The winner of the Charleston-Horry series takes on Sumter Post 15 or Aiken Post 26 in the next round.

In Game 3, Post 166 infielder/pitcher Kris Blanco had two hits and knocked in three runs. He also came on to lock down a save in the seventh.

Blanco quickly got two outs in the seventh before Horry strung together two singles and a walk. He coaxed a pop out to first base to end the threat.

Post 166 (12-6) jumped out to a 4-0 lead after two innings before Horry struck for three runs in the top of the third. Post 166 scored insurance runs in the fourth and sixth innings.

Starting pitcher John Shelton threw six innings to earn the win for Post 166. Shelton struck out seven batters, walked three and surrendered five hits.

Leadoff hitter Will McGuire scored three runs for Charleston.
