Stratford’s Nathan Arroyo (22) earned a spot on the South Carolina team for the Clash of the Carolinas Saturday, June 15, in Pineville, North Carolina.

Faith Christian freshman Canvas Good and Northwood Academy junior Will Watts captured state titles in SCISA Track and Field events May 3-4.

Good won the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.94 in SCISA Div. II at Orangeburg Prep, while Watts placed first in the javelin with a mark of 160 feet, 2 inches, in the SCISA Div. I meet at Porter-Gaud.

3 players, coach garner all-star nods

Stratford High School pitcher Lillian Hansen, Cane Bay High School outfielder Aaliyah McLeod and Berkeley High School outfielder Savannah Scott have been named to the Class 5A-2A-1A South roster for the North-South All-Star Softball Series May 29-30 at Lexington High School.

Also, Berkeley coach Kelly Dillon is one of the squad’s coaches.

The 5A-2A-1A South all-stars take on the 5A-2A-1A North all-stars at 5 p.m., on the first day and meet the 4A-3A South all-stars or 4A-3A North all-stars at 11:30 a.m., the next day.

Knights, Stament soccer all-stars

Stratford senior forwards Terence Seals and Jackson McNeil were named to the North-South Soccer Classic all-star game and senior midfielder Nathan Arroyo earned a spot in the Clash of the Carolinas.

Arroyo will suit up for the South Carolina side in a border bash against North Carolina at Noon, Saturday, June 15, in Pineville, North Carolina, at the OrthoCarolina Sportsplex.

McNeil and Seals will suit up for the South boys Saturday, June 22, at T.L. Hanna High School in Anderson. Knights coach Jessie Stament is one of two South coaches as the Lower State all-stars battle the Upper State all-stars.

The boys all-star game is set for 12:30 p.m., at the conclusion of the girls' all-star game. 

Hawks fall in Lower State final

Hanahan High School’s boys soccer team capped an impressive campaign in the Class 3A Lower State championship match Monday, May 6, at Waccamaw High School.

The home team knocked off the visiting Hawks, 3-1, to end Hanahan’s season.

The Hawks finished with a 16-6-4 mark. Junior Jace Jordan scored on an assist from senior Mario Rodriguez for Hanahan’s lone tally against the Warriors.

Waccamaw advanced to the 3A state title game Friday, May 10, in Columbia.
