A routine traffic stop in Goose Creek took a dangerous turn when shots were fired at an officer, leading to a pursuit and the eventual arrest of two individuals.

According to the Goose Creek Police Department, the incident unfolded at 11:05 p.m. Saturday, March 16, when an officer initiated a traffic stop on a red 2010 Nissan Versa at the intersection of North Main Street and 2nd Avenue. The stop was prompted by a faulty tag light and the vehicle allegedly disregarding a traffic signal.

Approximately five gunshots were discharged from the vehicle toward the officer. Following the gunfire, the vehicle sped away, prompting a pursuit by law enforcement.

The chase came to a conclusion when the Nissan Versa crashed into a residence on Mulberry Drive. Officers apprehended one of the vehicle’s occupants, identified as Tabita Lynn Scott, near the crash site. The other occupant, Keith Jerome Galloway, attempted to flee on foot but was tracked down by officers and police K9 units in the backyard of a nearby residence.

A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a handgun near the driver’s door, as confirmed by the Goose Creek Police Department. Scott and Galloway were promptly taken into custody and transported to the Berkeley County Detention Center.

Warrants were issued for Galloway, charging him with failure to stop for blue lights, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamines and possession of a controlled substance. Additionally, authorities anticipate further charges to be brought against both individuals.
