South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced Brandon Pierson, 38, of Walterboro, was arrested Wednesday, Dec. 13, on three charges connected to the attempted sexual exploitation of a minor. Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force investigators with the Goose Creek Police Department made the arrest. Investigators with the Colleton County Sheriff's Office, also a member of the state's ICAC Task Force, assisted with the investigation.

Investigators said Pierson solicited a person he believed to be a minor for sex, encouraged them to produce child sexual abuse material and sent sexually explicit images to a person he believed to be a minor.

Pierson is charged with one count of criminal solicitation of a minor, a felony offense punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment; one count of first-degree attempted sexual exploitation of a minor, a felony offense punishable by up to 20 years imprisonment; and one count of attempted dissemination of obscene material to a person under age 18, a felony offense punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment.

The Attorney General's Office will prosecute this case.

Wilson stressed that all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
