County in-house job fair helps fill crucial roles

Most of the available positions in Berkeley County start above $30,000 annually and some of the positions include step increases. Currently, there are about 50 open positions countywide.

The Berkeley County Government hosted another in-house job fair Thursday, March 21, at the administration building in Moncks Corner. Such events help expand the hiring pool for badly needed positions.

Some of the agencies most in need are roads and bridges, facilities and grounds, water and sewer, and the detention center. Detention officers' starting pay is $45,000 annually.

Most of the available positions in Berkeley County start at above $30,000 annually, and some include step increases. Currently, there are about 50 open positions countywide.

Those interested can now apply online by clicking the job title and the "apply" button. First-time applicants using the online application must create an account and a username and password. After the account has been established, one may import one's resume from LinkedIn, upload it from a saved document or manually enter personal information.

Applications will not be accepted after the posted closing date. All completed applications will be saved and used to apply for future job openings.

A separate application must be submitted for each position of interest. Online applications are stored on a secure site.

Only authorized employees and hiring authorities have access to the information submitted. Applications must show all relevant education and experience. If incomplete, applications may be rejected.

Once a position has been offered to an applicant, the applicant will be required to provide copies of the following items to human resources: Social Security Card, South Carolina driver's license, high school diploma or G.E.D. and certificate/degree required for the position. The offer may be withdrawn if the selected applicant cannot provide any of these items.
