One-time Berkeley County Sheriff Wayne DeWitt was reportedly arrested by the Goose Creek PD on Oct. 18 for driving under the influence, with a second offense of driving with an open container of beer and/or wine.
Previously, the former lawman was brought into custody for a DUI in 2014 that saw DeWitt crash into the rear of another vehicle in a hit-and-run accident that reportedly caused personal injury.
DeWitt subsequently turned in his resignation to then-Gov. Nikki Haley.
The Journal Scene has issued a request to the Goose Creek Police Department for more details on this arrest.
