Weekend will see very hot days with scattered thunderstorms

The National Weather Service is calling for a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms on Friday with a high expected near 96. The heat index values are expected to be as high as 107.

Friday night's low is expected to drop to around 74 degrees. Forecasters are calling for a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 11 p.m. 

On Saturday, residents in the Lowcountry will experience a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after noon, under sunny skies. The high will be near 95. Saturday night's low will be around 74. Forecasters said there is a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before midnight.

Sunday's high is expected to reach 95 under mostly sunny skies. There is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. and lasting through the night. The low will be around 75.

Monday will bring a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms according to forecasters. Mostly sunny skies on Monday will also see a near 94.
