Coroner: Man struck and killed by freight train

Berkeley County Coroner George Oliver released the identity of a man killed by a freight train on Nov. 25.

Oliver said in a statement that the incident involving the train and a pedestrian fatality happened at 5:35 p.m. in the City of Hanahan.

The victim is identified as 62-year-old, John Scott. The coroner said Scott was struck by a northbound freight train. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and the death has been ruled accidental.
