Mini-career fair focuses on Internet safety

Marrington Elementary School fourth-grader Caroline Lammy visits with Joe Ryan from the South Carolina Office of the Attorney General’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

For the second time, Joe Ryan, from the South Carolina Office of the Attorney General’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, came to talk to Marrington Elementary students about internet safety.

Each month the school hosts a mini career fair for grades 3-5 to familiarize students with jobs in science, technology, engineering and math, otherwise known as STEM.

Students were fascinated to learn about internet safety, predators and ways to stay safe in cyber space.

At the end of the day, whether on line or in person, the Golden Rule of treating others the way you want to be treated is always the way to go, Ryan said.
