The Green Wave handed the Gators a 42-24 loss in Goose Creek. Wrestling began in the 160-pound weight class with Summerville’s Stephen Windham earning a 10-1 decision. However, Goose Creek won three of the next four matches to give the Gators a 15-8 advantage entering the light weights.

Summerville then took charge, winning the next five matches. The Wave won with pins at 119, 125 and 130. Goose Creek notched wins at 135 and 145, but the Wave put the match away with victories in the other remaining classes.

Summerville ended the month of December by wrestling in two large tournaments.

Summerville placed fourth at the Wildcat Duals in Lexington Dec. 30-31. The Wave went 3-1 in pool matches and lost to Lexington 41-27 in the third-place match.

Summerville placed seventh out of 32 teams at the Tiger Holiday Classic in Chapel Hill, N.C. Dec. 28-29. The Wave tallied 118 points to finish behind Trinity, Chapel Hill, Piedmont, Orange, Union Pines and Mooresville, which won the tournament with 170.5 points.
