Stratford swimmer Daniel Shelley dives into the water during the annual Swimmin’ in da Crick Invitational Saturday at Crowfield. Shelley finished fourth in both the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle events for the Knights.
Stratford High School recently hosted the Swimmin’ in da Crick’ invitational swim meet at the Crowfield pool Sept. 12.

Stratford swim coach Jennifer Condon felt both teams benefited greatly from the competition, which included most of the top local swim programs in the area.

“We had several best times during the meet this weekend,” she said. “ The region meet (7-AAAA) is in two weeks and Swimmin' in da Crick gave the swimmers one last benchmark in order to see how close they are to achieving their personal goals for the season.

“They now know what has to be done in the last practices in order for their season to be a successful one.”

Lexington won the boys meet over Wando. Fort Dorchester, Academic Magnet, James Island, Summerville, Stratford, Bishop England and West Ashley were Nos. 3-9.

Lexington and Wando tied in the girls meet, followed by Academic Magnet, Bishop England, Fort Dorchester, James Island, Summerville and West Ashley.

Stratford is back in action Wednesday, Sept. 16 at Coosaw Creek against Fort Dorchester.

The region meet is Sept. 26 and state meet is set for Oct. 10.
