Of the 18 swimmers combined on both teams, seven are seniors in their last seasons in the pool for Stratford.
“I think that Stratford will have a decent showing at region,” Stratford coach Jennifer Condon said. “Wando is so strong that no one else in Region 7-AAAA can compete, so we'll be vying for second for the boys team with James Island. They have a great deal more depth than we do.”
But the Knights have two quality swimmers who should place high in their individual events in BJ Hornikel and Daniel Shelley.
For the girls, the Lady Knights have two swimmers that are competitive time wise with both Wando and James Island. They are Hope Stevens and Danielle Wells.
“I think they will place well in their individual events,” Condon said. “I think that we will come in a comfortable third behind Wando and James Island on the girls side of the meet.”
The other Stratford seniors are Paige Matthews, Chrissy Fidelus and Joe Bender.
The state meet is set for Oct. 10.
