Junior Aleighsa Welch and sophomore N’Dea Bryant helped propel the Under-15 AAU Lowcountry Ballers to the accomplishment in Orlando, Fla. recently, earning themselves some recognition from college coaches along the way.

The Ballers, one of the premier AAU organizations in the state, are coached by Tiffany Magwood and Travis Lincoln.

“They’ve gotten a lot of interest as part of this,” Goose Creek Lady Gators coach Tim Baldwin said.

They also got added exposure at a big AAU event in Tennessee.

He said the group of colleges that have shown interest in Welch and Bryant are Tennessee, Georgia, St. John’s, Tulsa, College of Charleston and others.

Welch, the reigning All-County Line Player of the Year, and the ACL first-teamer Bryant were key players in the Lady Gators’ run to the Lower State finals this past winter and will be counted on to lead the way this upcoming season.

“They’re definitely the nucleus of what we’ve got coming back,” Baldwin said. “They’re a huge part of what we’re doing. If those two are going, then we’re going. If we’re going to get back to where we want to go, they’re going to have to have huge seasons.”

The Ballers defeated teams from Tennessee, Georgia, Maryland, South Carolina, Delaware and Ohio en route to the crown. They defeated the Southern Ohio Magic 67-58 in the finals.
