The annual Post 166 preseason invitational will signal the start of the high school baseball season for some Berkeley County teams, including Goose Creek and Cane Bay.

The tournament will be take place on Feb. 24, 27, 29 and March 3 at both GCHS and Berkeley High School.

“We are excited about this year’s field,” Goose Creek coach Scott Durham said. “This tournament offers teams an opportunity to play four games prior to the regular season without being too taxing on the pitching staffs.  The tournament is also a way for our team to give back to the community. Part of the proceeds go to Goose Creek American Legion Post 166.”

Fort Dorchester was the champion of the event last year but is not in the tournament in 2012.

At Goose Creek on opening night, the Gators take on Academic Magnet at 5 p.m., while Cane Bay plays Colleton County at 7:15 p.m.

At Berkeley, Woodland will meet Pinewood Prep at 5 p.m., while Timberland tangles with Berkeley at 7:15 p.m.
