The annual Post 166 preseason invitational will signal the start of the high school baseball season for some Berkeley County teams, including Goose Creek and Cane Bay.
The tournament will be take place on Feb. 24, 27, 29 and March 3 at both GCHS and Berkeley High School.
“We are excited about this year’s field,” Goose Creek coach Scott Durham said. “This tournament offers teams an opportunity to play four games prior to the regular season without being too taxing on the pitching staffs. The tournament is also a way for our team to give back to the community. Part of the proceeds go to Goose Creek American Legion Post 166.”
Fort Dorchester was the champion of the event last year but is not in the tournament in 2012.
At Goose Creek on opening night, the Gators take on Academic Magnet at 5 p.m., while Cane Bay plays Colleton County at 7:15 p.m.
At Berkeley, Woodland will meet Pinewood Prep at 5 p.m., while Timberland tangles with Berkeley at 7:15 p.m.
On Feb. 27 at GCHS, Goose Creek plays Colleton County at 5 p.m., followed by Cane Bay and Academic Magnet at 7:15 p.m.
At Berkeley the same night, Pinewood Prep plays Timberland at 5 and Berkeley takes on Woodland at 7:15.
On the last night of pool play on Feb. 29, Cane Bay plays Goose Creek at 5 followed by Colleton County and Academic Magnet at 7:15.
At Berkeley, Woodland tangles with Timberland at 5 p.m. and Pinewood Prep plays Berkeley at 7:15.
The pool play winner from each site will meet for the championship at 4:45 on Saturday, March 3 at GCHS, preceded by the consolation games.
