MoMo to take over dining operations at Crowfield

MoMo Catering, which operates Momo Restaurant at Riverfront Park in North Charleston, has signed a five-year contract to take over the operation at Crowfield Golf Club.

A local restaurant is taking over all food and beverage operations at Crowfield Golf Club as the city of Goose Creek continues to elevate the public golf course’s dining experience.

MoMo Catering, which operates Momo Restaurant at Riverfront Park in North Charleston, has signed a five-year contract to take over the operation, according to a press release from Goose Creek Public Information Officer Frank Johnson.

According to the release, a new and vibrant food and beverage experience at Crowfield is expected to attract more residents from around Goose Creek and the region.

“This is exciting — not just for people who play golf or live in Crowfield. It’s exciting for all of us,” Goose Creek Mayor Greg Habib said in the statement. We have listened to what our residents want, and this agreement delivers.”

The city opened bids for the dining space earlier this year. Crowfield General Manager Troy Sanders was part of a team of city officials who interviewed and analyzed three finalists.

“MoMo is an ideal partner for our club and the city,” Sanders said. “We have heard from our current customers about what they would like to see the dining experience include, and MoMo fits that bill to a tee. We look forward to the community supporting a really good restaurant in Goose Creek.”

Bringing in an outside restaurant will reduce costs for the city, which has operated the restaurant and bar area of the golf club for years. According to the press release, all food and beverage employees will be under the restaurant’s control.

MoMo will take over the operation of the Crowfield bar July 1. Its Riverfront Park location will continue to operate as usual after the Crowfield location opens.

“We are thrilled to be working with the city of Goose Creek and its leadership to assume the food and beverage operations at Crowfield Golf Club,” MoMo chef and owner Justin Moore said in the statement. “This is where it all began for us, so it’s an honor to have the opportunity to serve the community in the beautiful, renovated clubhouse and outside bar pavilion.”

A full restaurant opening will occur after ongoing club renovations are completed this fall.

The venue will foster the city’s mantra of keeping people in Goose Creek by offering more options.

The construction on the new clubhouse started in the fall of 2023 and is on track to be finished sometime this coming September, all while keeping the doors open for patrons and golfers.

The new facility will be a welcome change, making more room for the current smaller, dated building.

“With traffic getting worse in the area and 960 homes in the Hamlets and over 4,000 in Crowfield, we are hoping to create a community gathering place so people don’t have to leave the neighborhood,” said Troy Sanders, director at Crowfield Club. “So, we are going to be able to do a lot more by capturing the people here.”

The effort is an entire clubhouse improvement project that will allow the course to host more and larger events and will include an updated kitchen.

Crowfield Golf Club is owned and operated by the city of Goose Creek and is open to the public.
