Ruth Hilton Jones of Bonneau Beach, wife of the late Ottis Murdic Jones, died Friday, May 15, 2009. She was 90.
Born Sept. 27, 1918, in Kershaw County, Mrs. Jones was a daughter of James Hoyt Hilton and Bernice Elliott Hilton. She was a retired school teacher from Charleston County schools.
She was a charter member of Cooper River Baptist Church and a current member of First Baptist Church of Bonneau, where she was a member of the Keen Club. She taught Sunday School classes for 35 years and was a member of the Retired Teachers Association.
Surviving are three daughters, Rolalind Holmes and her husband, Sonny, of St. Stephen, Joyce Eubanks and her husband, Robert, of Georgetown, and Deborah Ruth "Debbie" Jernigan and her husband, Keith, of Goose Creek; two sons, Robert Ottis Jones and his wife, Bernice, of Maryland, and Murdic Hoyt "Dick" Jones of Bonneau; 17 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, the Rev. Nan Davis.
Services were held May 17 at First Baptist Church of Bonneau. Interment followed at Bonneau Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Bonneau
