Bobby “Barbara” Jeanne Cook of Goose Creek, wife of the late Captain Donald A. Cook, USAF, died July 5. She was 72.
Mrs. Cook was born on Sept. 15, 1936 in Charleston, the daughter of the late E.D. (Jack) Nelms and Eva Louise Voss Nelms.
She was a devoted homemaker who unselfishly put her children’s needs above her own. Her true joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren. Barbara was known for her caring and generous spirit. She will be truly missed.
She is survived by two siblings, a sister, Betty McMahan of Gold Canyon, AZ and a brother, Charles Nelms of Ella Belle, GA; a daughter, Tracy K.A. Cook and her husband, Woody Singletary of Goose Creek; two sons, Johnny M. Cook and his wife, Candace, and Jarrett J. Gibbons and his wife, Paige, all of Goose Creek; two granddaughters, Lana J. Cook and Reese C. Gibbons, both of Goose Creek, and two grandsons, Johnny S. Cook and Sawyer T. Gibbons, both of Goose Creek.
As per her wishes, there will be no local visitation or memorial service. Private graveside services will be held on July 24 when her cremated remains are buried in Arlington National Cemetery alongside her late husband, Captain Donald A. Cook, USAF.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, National Headquarters, 3300 East Sunrise Drive, Tucson, AZ 85718.
