Thursday brought great news for Berkeley County.
The South Carolina Department of Commerce, Berkeley County and the South Carolina State Ports Authority (SCSPA) have announced that Moulton Logistics Management will locate its new distribution and logistics facility in Berkeley County.
The $25 million investment is expected to generate 500 new jobs in the next five years.
Officials from Moulton Logistics, based in Los Angeles, said the strategic location will allow Moulton Logistics to provide access to markets in Europe and across the Atlantic Ocean.
The new facility will also better service the company’s East Coast customers by reducing delivery costs and transit times.
“The addition of the new East Coast facility will provide many benefits for our clients including the reduction of freight costs and transit times, which indirectly leads to a reduction in customer service costs and ultimately higher customer satisfaction,” Moulton Logistics business development head Patrick Moulton said. “Our new facility in Berkeley County not only allows us to ship across the Atlantic, it also puts us closer to customers on the East Coast. South Carolina’s positive business environment and excellent port in Charleston will be important keys to our success on the East Coast. We appreciate all the support we have received from state and local officials.”
