  • Tuesday, November 27, 2012

An inmate at the Dorchester County Detention Center has died after apparently hanging himself, according to the Dorchester County Coroner’s Office and Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office.
Scott Allan Kuykendall, 34, of Goose Creek, was found hanging about 10:37 a.m. Nov. 22 in a shower stall in an inmate dormitory, according to a DCSO incident report. Kuykendall was taken down and transported to the Colleton County Medical Center Emergency Room, where he was pronounced dead. Kuykendall had been incarcerated in the Dorchester County Detention Center in St. George since March 30, 2012 for a parole violation, according to DCSO and Coroner’s Office officials.
A note belonging to Kuykendall was found in his cell, according to the incident report.
Dorchester County Coroner Chris Nisbet said a forensic autopsy would be performed; no results have been announced as of yet.
The investigation continues.
