A host of community organizations are planning the Goose Creek Unity Day for Aug. 8.
The Goose Creek NAACP has joined several schools, churches, businesses and community organizations to organize the event, which will feature entertainment, fun activities, and, most importantly, clothing, food, school supplies and health screenings for those in need.
The event is open to the entire community.
The next planning meeting for the event is set for June 29 at 6 p.m. at the Goose Creek High School cafeteria.
The Unity Day will be held from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at GCHS. Organizers are expecting 1,000 people to attend. Volunteers, monetary donations, in-kind donations, and assistance from businesses, churches and other community organizations is needed.
Those already taking part in the event include Crowfield Baptist Church, GCHS, Food Lion, Harbor Lake Baptist, Sedgefield Intermediate and Middle School, Stars and Stripes Storage, New Life Christian Fellowship, First National Bank, Restoration Ministries, Goose Creek Primary School, Planet Fun, Calvary Church of God, Marrington Elementary and Middle School, Trident United Way, Greater Mount Zion AME Church and the NAACP.
