A Mt. Pleasant man is dead after apparently falling from a boat on the Wando River Sunday in Berkeley County.
On July 25 at 5:45 p.m., a Berkeley County 911 dispatcher received a call that a man fell from a boat in the Wando River near the Highway 41 bridge. A search was conducted by The Berkeley County Rescue Squad, Charleston County Rescue Squad, The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office and DNR.
According to Berkeley County Deputy Coroner Bill Salisbury, diving teams from both rescue squads and the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office participated in the search.
The body of Jim Turner, 47, from Mt. Pleasant, was located on July 26 at 1:30 a.m., Salisbury said. The body was found in the area that Mr. Turner was last seen.
The death is under investigation by the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office and DNR. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
