Narcotics officers have been busy lately, this time following up on a tip that a man was growing pot in his backyard. Officers went to the house right about the time the homeowner pulled into the driveway. He was very cooperative, as officers patted him down and searched his vehicle, not finding anything. The officers informed him that they could see the pot plant growing on top of his house boat which was parked in the back yard. The man just hung his head and said nothing. Officers searched the house boat and found paraphernalia and pot residue, in addition to the plant that seemed to be pretty healthy. The man told the officers he was willing to talk and was taken down to the station for questioning.

He told officers his cousin asked him to keep the plant because he had no where to keep it. He said he agreed to keep the plant but was not going to be responsible for it. The cousin agreed to this plan, knowing that responsible or not, if he got caught with the plant the fault with lie with him.

And the cousin was right. The homeowner was issued a ticket for possession of drug paraphernalia right after he told officers his cousin’s name and address.
