A sampling of nefarious doings obtained from Goose Creek Police Department and Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office reports:

• From the files of if at first you don’t succeed…

An officer on patrol saw a gray and rust colored Chevrolet sedan operating without lights and failing to use turn signals to change lanes. The officer tried to stop the car on U.S. 176 but the driver kept going until he crossed onto Redbank Road, eventually turning into an apartment complex at high speed, stopping, and bailing out of the vehicle.

The officer gave chase on foot and after a few minutes deployed his Taser, bringing the subject to the ground.

The subject, however, tried to get up and the officer hit the Taser again. The subject said he would comply with the officer’s commands, but as the officer was calling in the situation to dispatch, the subject tried to get up again.

The officer deployed the Taser again and this time the suspect complied with orders to stay on the ground and show his hands. The officer was then able to cuff the subject and put him in his patrol car.

Meanwhile, a second officer on the scene spoke to the subject’s passenger, a female, who was placed into investigative custody. It was subsequently found that she had gotten out of the car and thrown away a small plastic baggy containing a white powdery substance.

The two were transported to Hill Finklea Detention Center on several charges, including possession of cocaine, resisting arrest, and possession of a stolen vehicle tag.

• A Turnbury Road woman reported that someone broke a window, came into her house and stole computer equipment and video games worth $1,000.

• It’s a scam that’s becoming all too familiar these days. A Goose Creek woman reported that she had put a television for sale on Craigslist and received a response from a man claiming to live in Charleston. The man offered 10 passes to play golf at Westcott Plantation in exchange for the television set. She agreed he could come see it and they could talk about it; she ultimately agreed to the deal and released the television to him. She also copied down the man’s license plate number.

A few days later, she called Westcott Plantation golf club and found out the passes were counterfeit. She then went back on Craigslist and found an exact match to her television being advertised in West Ashley.

The case is under investigation.
