A sampling of nefarious doings obtained from Goose Creek Police Department and Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office reports:
• An officer investigating suspicious activity involving vandalism of a bridge on Westview Boulevard found a group of juveniles sitting on the ground except one, who appeared to have been startled. When the juvenile turned toward the officer, the officer noted what looked like a gun in his hand. The officer pulled his taser and ordered the juvenile to drop the weapon.
As it turned out, the gun was a plastic toy, and the juvenile explained that he had no intention of trying to harm anyone and that the officer had scared him when he suddenly appeared, and he turned to see what was happening behind him.
The officer stated he did not believe the juvenile intended any harm and there was no proof that this group had vandalized the bridge. The group was released to the custody of their parents and the toy pistol was taken to GCPD for destruction.
• A Goose Creek woman reported that while she was checking her mailbox, her neighbor yelled to her, “Give me a rain check.” She said she did not know what he was talking about so she made a comment about the weather. The neighbor again yelled, “Give me a rain check.”
When she turned around to look at him, she saw that he was holding his privates, exposing himself to her.
The officer attempted to contact the neighbor but was unable to at the time. The case is under investigation.
• A 63-year-old Goose Creek man reported that a 20-year-old female friend of his stole a Rolex watch from him. He said she had contacted him via text message on Dec. 29 saying it was her birthday and asked him to look out for her. He said he agreed to see her that night and just before she arrived he had removed his watch from his wrist and placed it on table in his house.
She arrived at his house and stayed about 30-45 minutes; he said he gave her $100 for her birthday and a bottle of Vitamin E because she is pregnant.
When he walked her to the front door, she said she left her keys in the other room and went back to get them. When she returned, he said she was acting strangely. A short time later, he found the watch missing.
After that, he attempted to contact her via text message, with no response; he then left a voice mail threatening to go to the police. He said after that, she did text him back and denied stealing the watch, then later said she would see what she could do about getting it back and apologized. When the man didn’t hear from her after that, he decided to go to the police.
The man said if she pawned the watch, he only wants to know where it is and won’t pursue criminal charges.
• Someone stole a tractor and backhoe and two power rakes from a nursery on South Goose Creek Drive. Total value of the items is $41,600. The case is under investigation.
