The next Goose Creek Police Department’s quarterly women’s self-defense classes have been announced for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9 and Tuesday, Dec. 2.

The 2½-hour classes are free of charge and geared toward women without prior self-defense training. Classes are taught in the police department training room by a certified instructor and involve hands-on instruction.

Crime Prevention Specialist Kevin Scott said in a release that no previous experience is required nor do you have to be a seasoned athlete to participate. You will learn real-life applicable self-defense techniques that you will be able to incorporate into your daily routine.

The minimum age to attend is 15 and those under 18 must have a parent or guardian’s written approval. To sign up for upcoming classes contact Scott via email kscott@cityofgoosecreek.com or by calling 863-5200, extension 2317.
