Rob Gantt/Gazette Goose Creek High School’s Semoine Frasier will further her playing career at Erskine College.

Another Goose Creek High School girls basketball player has worked herself into a position to play in college.

Last week, recent graduate Semoine Frasier signed a letter of intent with Erskine College.

“I’m very excited for her to get this opportunity,” GCHS coach Tim Baldwin said. “This is something she wanted to do. This just shows that if you work hard and do what you’re supposed to do, there is a payoff after high school. Erskine is a great school for her.”

Frasier, a 5-9 center, finished as a four-year letterman and had her best season with the Lady Gators as a senior. She averaged 8.6 points and 5.3 rebounds as GCHS wound up 24-3 and made the state quarterfinals.

As a junior, Frasier averaged 5.9 points and 3.1 rebounds.

Next season, the Lady Gators will have seven former players competing in college. The other six are Aleighsa Welch (USC), N’Dea Bryant (UNC), Jalvin Jones (Claflin), Sahara Pringle (Converse), Shakeia Joy (Armstrong Atlantic) and Ashley Fields (Jr. College in Florida).

“This shows what we’re doing is working as far as getting kids ready,” Baldwin said. “We’ve been blessed to have some older girls that showed the younger kids how to do things the right way and our administration has been very supportive.”

Frasier will join at least two other Lowcountry standouts at Erskine. Summerville’s Zuri Green has signed with the Flying Fleet and former Pinewood Prep standout Raygon Hendrix was freshman of the year in Conference Carolinas last winter.

The Flying Fleet was 14-13 and 9-9 last season.
