Goose Creek lawyer selected for municipal judge

Lindsay Street/Gazette City Council has selected its new municipal judge.

Goose Creek City Council named Danny Wilson as the town’s new municipal judge during its monthly meeting Aug. 12.

Wilson, a Goose Creek lawyer, will start Sept. 1 as he takes over for Dale Van Slambrook, who was recently named a Master in Equity judge for Berkeley County.

Wilson was chosen over Charleston lawyer Peter Shahid after both candidates interviewed with council members at a workshop July 31.

“This was a very tough choice,” Mayor Michael Heitzler said. “Both men offered excellent credentials and a lot of experience. We were fortunate to have two very strong candidates for this position.”

Wilson, a 1988 College of Charleston graduate, got his law degree from Florida State in 1995 and has practiced law in the Lowcountry since 1998.

He currently practices with Wilson Law Office in Goose Creek, specializing in civil litigation, criminal representation and workers’ compensation.
