Rob Gantt/Gazette Former CSU and Stratford standout Bobby Ison is batting .386 over his last 10 games for the Arizona Rookie League Indians.

Bobby Ison has found a groove at the plate as his first professional summer on the diamond winds down.

Ison, a recent draft pick of the Cleveland Indians and former Stratford and CSU standout, has hit safely in 10 straight games for the Indians affiliate in the Arizona Rookie League.

He was at .208 after going 0 for 3 on July 19 but he’s responded with a performance very similar to his days in college. He’s had at least two hits in eight games during the current hitting streak.

Ison was 1 for 4 with an RBI Monday, putting his average at .293.

He’s 17 for 44 (.386) with four RBIs, four walks and two doubles during the streak.

On the season, Ison has eight RBIs, six stolen bases and a .375 on-base percentage.

The Arizona Rookie League Indians have a 27-13 overall record and are 10-2 the second half of the season.

In college, Ison was a prolific hitter for the Buccaneers.

This past season for CSU, he batted .396 with three home runs, 34 RBIs, 47 runs, 16 stolen bases and just six strikeouts in 230 official at-bats for the Buccaneers.

He finished as the toughest player to strikeout in the country and set CSU’s single season mark for hits.

Ison batted .332 as a freshman and .367 as a sophomore before getting drafted after his junior year.
