Lindsay Street/Gazette American LaFrance equipment will be back on the auction block this month.

The Branford Group will host the auction of American LaFrance’s remaining assets beginning 9 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, at the offsite location of Wingate by Wyndham in North Charleston.

Bidders also can participate online at thebranfordgroup.com.

American LaFrance was located off of Cypress Gardens Road between Moncks Corner and Goose Creek. The company closed after years of financial trouble earlier this year. Hundreds lost their jobs.

According to a press release by the global industrial auction firm, more than 1,000 lots will be sold and the auction will consist of more than $8 million in inventory. Inventory includes 14 new Cummins engines, two American LaFrance Eagle custom chassis, fire pumps, axles, pumper bodies, cabs, 150 truck rims and tires, and more.

The Branford Group Vice President Andy Duncan would not disclose who is hosting the auction.

“We’re an auction and appraisal company and we’ve been hired by a creditor, a secured lender. I was asked not to disclose it for various reasons,” Duncan told the Gazette.

Preview and inspection of assets will be open 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 25, and Tuesday, Aug. 26, on-site at 164 Spring Grove Dr.

For the preview and the auction, Duncan said he is expecting a crowd.

“My phone has been blowing up the last couple weeks,” he said. He added that the hard-to-find nature of the equipment has bolstered bidder interest.

Duncan said items will be sold in bulk and itemized, Smaller items will be sold later in the week.
