The Berkeley County Sheriff’s deputy involved in a traffic accident Monday night has been identified by the S.C. Highway Patrol as Justice Jenkins.

Jenkins was on patrol on Redbank Road when his Dodge Charger and a Chevrolet SUV collided at the Harbour Lake Drive intersection. He was taken to MUSC for treatment and was released Tuesday, according to the hospital.

The driver of the Chevrolet, Bernard Desena, of Goose Creek, was taken to Trident Medical Center, according to a report after the accident. Trident had no record of his admittance or release Thursday.

SCHP is investigating the accident. No other details have been released.
