Former Stratford High School and CSU baseball standout Bobby Ison has hit safely in five straight games, including three with two hits, in the Arizona Rookie League.
He was just drafted in June in the 21st round by the Cleveland Indians.
Ison, an outfielder, is 8 for 23 during the five-game stretch with a double and two stolen bases.
On the season he’s batting .254 with four RBIs, seven walks and four stolen bases in 18 games.
Ison’s team leads its division with a 23-11 record.
Tacoma Rainiers first baseman Justin Smoak (Stratford/USC) has hit safely in six of his last seven games for the Seattle Mariners Triple-A affiliate.
After going 1 for 3 on Monday, he’s 9 for 28 during the stretch.
Smoak has played 69 games with the Mariners this summer and 34 in Tacoma.
