An online classified ad is listing an auction for American LaFrance’s remaining firetruck and emergency vehicle manufacturing inventory.
It is not yet clear who is selling the inventory. A representative from the company that owns the building where American LaFrance’s inventory is housed said it is not the Pattillo Industrial Real Estate holding the auction.
According to the Craigslist ad, the auction will be webcast and on-location beginning at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27. Inspection and preview is 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Aug. 25 and Aug. 26. No website or contact information is given in the ad.
American LaFrance suddenly closed earlier this year. The county seized the company’s business personal property and auctioned it to make up for more than $650,000 in debt owed to taxpayers, but the inventory — parts, trucks, engines and more — remained behind at the location off of Cypress Gardens Road between Goose Creek and Moncks Corner.
According to the ad, there is $8 million of inventory with 2.5 million difficult-to-find parts. The auction will include 14-2012 Cummins Diesel Engines of different models, two 2013 American LaFrance Eagle custom chassis with bodies, and 40 rear and front axles.
