Goose Creek resident Tony Osterman was named an associate head coach for the Pinewood Prep baseball team last month.
Osterman, who has spent more than 30 years coaching baseball throughout the state, will serve under new Panthers coach Jay Buddin.
Osterman was the hitting instructor for the Panthers this past spring.
“Tony joined our varsity baseball staff last year and had an immediate impact on our players’ development,” Pinewood Prep athletics director Andy Morgan said. “He does a fantastic job at evaluating and teaching the proper mechanics for each player’s swing and getting them to see the results.”
During the summers he also worked with the South Carolina Diamond Devils as an assistant. He is the head coach for the East Coast Baseball Academy and a staff member for the Diamond Prospects since 2006.
While assisting with the Diamond Prospects showcases, he helps young players obtain the opportunities and experiences to expose their talents in front of college and pro scouts.
Osterman has been an employee of SCE&G for more than 35 years and has a degree in Business Science from Southern Wesleyan University.
He was a three-sport athlete at Chicora High School.
