The Berkeley Chamber of Commerce is celebrating its success, and it has invited the governor to join that celebration.
The chamber’s annual meeting is set for Sept. 5 at the North Charleston Convention Center, and Gov. Nikki Haley will be the keynote speaker.
“Berkeley County is the only county in the state since 1977 to have more than two years of $1 billion in capital investments,” chamber chief executive officer Elaine Morgan said. “As a matter of fact, Berkeley has had four $1 billion years. We want to celebrate that success with Gov. Haley at our annual meeting.”
Thanks to industries such as the Naval Weapons Station, Nucor, Alcoa, Blackbaud, Santee Cooper and Google, Berkeley has a substantial base of large employers with proximity to interstates, rail lines and the state ports.
Tickets for the event are $50 for chamber members, $65 for nonmembers. Call the chamber at 761-8238 for more information.
