Former Stratford standout baseball player Justin Greene continues to be smoking, red hot for the York Revolution this summer.

Greene is batting .386 in 61 games with the Revolution with 15 doubles, five homers and five triples.

He's also stolen 18 bases and knocked in 25 runs.

York competes in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. The Atlantic League is considered the highest level of professional baseball other than Major League Baseball.

As of Monday night, he had hit safely in 21 of 23 games in the month of July.

Greene began the season in Double-A Mobile in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization before joining the Revolution in York, Pa.

Before joining the Revolution, he had a .272 career average as a pro going back to 2008. He was a 20th round draft pick of the Chicago White Sox out of Francis Marion in the 2008 first-year draft.

Justin Smoak (Stratford/USC) hit a pair of home runs for the Tacoma Rainiers on Saturday. The Rainiers are a Triple-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners.

He is hitting .303 over his last 10 games and .273 in 27 games for the Rainiers.

Bobby Ison (Stratford/CSU) had his first professional extra-base hit on Sunday. It was a double for the Cleveland Indians' Arizona Rookie League affiliate.

On the season, he's batting .222 with four stolen bases, four RBIs and seven walks.

Ison was drafted in the 21st round by the Indians in June.

Ryan Gunther (Stratford/CSU) has made two appearances in the last week for the Danville Braves in the Appalachian League.

He's thrown three innings, allowed four hits and struck out one while giving up no runs.

Zach Wimmer (Cane Bay) has made 14 appearances for the Wilmington Sharks of the Coastal Plain League, a summer wooden bat league for college players.

He's thrown 20.1 innings, allowing 16 hits and 20 walks while striking out 16. He has a 3.98 ERA.

Wimmer plays for Florence-Darlington Tech.

Ryan Manore (Hanahan) also plays for the Sharks. He has a 3-1 record and 7.11 ERA. He's made 13 appearances, tossing 25.1 innings. He's allowed 30 hits and 15 walks while striking out 20 batters.

Manore played for USC Lancaster this past spring but is headed for Francis Marion this season.

Charleston Southern head softball coach Shane Winkler has signed a four-year contract extension, the CSU athletic administration announced on Monday.

Winkler had one year remaining on his contract and is now signed through the 2019 season. CSU does not disclose the financial terms of coaching contracts.

Winkler, who just completed his sixth season as the Bucs' head coach, is the winningest coach in program history with 156 career wins. The Bucs are coming off of the first NCAA Tournament berth in school history after winning the 2014 Big South Conference championship.

“I couldn't be more excited for the opportunity to lead this program for years to come,” Winkler said. “... We've built a championship program here.”

Winkler led CSU to its first 30-win season in 2010, a school record 33 wins in 2012 and to an NCAA Tournament berth in May. The Bucs have played in the Big South championship game in two of the past three seasons under Winkler.
