The Charleston Baseball Academy 12U Palmetto Rays traveled up the coastline to play in the Baseball Youth Nationals in Myrtle Beach last week and returned home with a championship trophy.
The Rays were the only team from South Carolina and competed against teams squads from Florida, Ohio, North Carolina, Texas, Georgia, and Virginia.
The Rays hit 10 home runs in eight games and compiling a team batting average of .521. They also hurled a pair of one-hitters to win the event.
Four Rays - Andrew Harper, Pat Monteith, Tyler Christmas and Jonathan Barham - were selected to the all-tournament team.
In the event’s home run derby, Kristofer Blanco belted 12 to take the title for the Rays.
