Investigation continues into fatal shooting of teen

The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting of a teenager Monday night.

Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Dan Moon said Tuesday morning that an investigation is ongoing into a shooting in Ladson; a 15-year-old boy, Alonza Williams of Goose Creek, was shot multiple times and died at MUSC after being taken there by helicopter. The shooting occurred in the College Park area of Ladson.

“It is under investigation,” said Moon.

Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury confirmed the victim’s identity.

On June 30, at 9:49 p.m. the 911 dispatcher received a call reporting a shooting in the College Park Area of Berkeley County. When sheriff officer’s arrived they found that Alonza Williams had been shot several times.

He was transported to MUSC by helicopter and was pronounced dead at 11:11 p.m., Salisbury said.

An autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday.

No suspects have been named in the case, and the BCSO is asking for the public’s input. Anyone with tips about the shooting can call the Sheriff’s Office at 843-719-4412 or Crime Stoppers at 843-554-1111.
