Jordan Smith, 16, a student at Stratford High School, has been awarded the Animal Forest Volunteer of the Year award at Charles Towne Landing.

The Animal Forest staff nominated Jordan Smith as recipient of the Volunteer of the Year Award for 2014.

Jordan began his Animial Forest career by job shadowing in 2010. He enjoyed his time at the zoo so much he soon inquired about volunteering. Jordan thrived as a young keeper, assisting staff with cleaning a diet prep.

A quick learner, Jordan has proved to be an asset for the zoo. For over three years, he has been routinely volunteering once a month, and has even brought his scout troop out for special projects.
