Tyler Rio tossed a complete game and struck out 10 batters to lead Goose Creek Post 166 to a 2-1 win over the Lowcountry Heat on Thursday.
He scattered four hits and limited the winless Heat to a single run in the fourth inning in helping Goose Creek improve to 5-2 overall and 5-1 in League 1 play. Goose Creek scored single runs in the third and fourth innings, providing just enough run support for Rio.
Caleb Workman tossed seven innings for the Heat, limiting Post 166 to three hits while striking out six.
Post 166 travels to Beaufort on Thursday and concludes the regular season at home on June 30 against the Lowcountry Heat.
If Post 166 wins Thursday, it will wrap up the League 1 title for the fourth year in a row.
The playoffs begin July 7 and the state tournament is set for July 26-30 in Sumter.
