Cypress Gardens has a new summer camp program: Swamp Safari Summer Camp for children ages 6 to 10 years old.
The camp will be offered 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday, July 21, through Friday, July 25.
The camp offers a week of engaging, educational summer programs:
• Monday: Get to Know Your Swamp Creatures
• Tuesday: Bugs and Plants
Wednesday: History Day
Thursday: Reptiles and Amphibians
Friday: Safety Day and Water Fun Day with Cookout
“This is an excellent opportunity for children to learn more about nature and Lowcountry history,” Cypress Gardens manager Heather Graham said. “The hands-on programs engage kids while teaching them about the types of plants, bugs, and wildlife they may find around their own homes.
“We also include a fun session outlining the rich history of our area and a safety program.”
The Swamp Safari Summer Camp costs $150 per child for the entire week and includes a T-shirt, backpack, water bottle, snacks and crafts. Space is limited. Call Liz Vaughn at 553-0515 for more information or to register.
Cypress Gardens is conducting business as usual during the aftermath of the bridge collapse on Cypress Gardens Road. The park will be open during regular business hours and for all scheduled school/tour groups, summer camps, private parties and events.
Visitors are asked to follow the S.C. Department of Transportation detour, which allows access to the park by taking Redbank Road through the Naval Weapons Station to Bushy Park Road. Visitors planning a trip or event at Cypress Gardens may check with the park directly for road updates by calling 553-0515.
