Mothers Against Drunk Driving South Carolina has announced the availability of a specialty license plate through the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles.
MADD recently talked about how the plates support MADD’s mission to eliminate drunk driving, support the victims of this violent crime, and prevent underage drinking. South Carolinians can get a MADD license plate online or at their local DMV offices. The price is of the plate is $20 for two years, in addition to the regular motor vehicle registration fee. About $10 from each plate sold goes to support MADD SC’s work.
“Each day, MADD serves victims of DUI crashes, educates parents about how to talk with their teens about alcohol, advocates for stiffer DUI laws and penalties, and provides general awareness information to the public—all at no charge,” said MADD SC Advisory Board Chair Terecia Wilson. “The income generated from these special license plates helps support all those services.”
“South Carolina has the third highest rate in the nation for traffic deaths which are DUI related,” said SCDMV Executive Director Kevin Shwedo. “MADD, along with state law enforcement and safety partners, are working hard to change that, and we’re proud to help them introduce this new license plate.”
Customers may apply for the plate online at www.scdmvonline.com. Form MV-95 applications are also accepted by mail or in an SCDMV office.
