Six tons of food collected for Helping Hands

  • Wednesday, June 4, 2014

Provided Mail carriers collected over six tons of food from the Goose Creek community during the recent one-day drive.

Helping Hands of Goose Creek expressed appreciation last week to all of the U.S. Postal Service carriers and staff, as well as the entire Goose Creek community, that made the recent postal food collection such a great success.

This year, mail carriers collected over 12,600 pounds of food from the Goose Creek Community.

All of the food collected stays local to feed local hungry families. This annual food collection, which takes place on one day, is vital to the Helping Hands organization.

Each year this food drive helps replenish our inventory in preparation for the upcoming summer months of service, when Helping Hands sees a substantial increase in families needing food assistance.
