There was a battle at Marrington Elementary School this May.

A Battle of the Books, that is.

The Battle of the Books is an annual reading program for fourth- and fifth-graders. From September to April, students read a total of 10 books in order to participate in a team competition in which students answered questions about the books they read.

This year, Marrington had four teams of students compete: Team Bacon, Team Hawks, Team Da Crew, and Team Hot N Spicy. Teams Da Crew and Hot N Spicy moved on to the final round where Team Hot N Spicy proved its broad knowledge of this years titles. The members of the winning team, Hot N Spicy, were Brendon Edwards (team captain), Emma Zaleski, and Julia Carpenter.
