More thoughts on Goose Creek
The Letter to the Editor last week regarding “Thoughts on Goose Creek Business” prompted me to write.
While it might be argued that Goose Creek is a “Diamond in the Rough,” it could also be said that the City of Goose Creek needs quite a bit more polishing to even be considered a “rough diamond.”
There are several residences within the city limits of Goose Creek that have no access to city sewer services and have no hope of access in the future. Perhaps the local politicians have a vested interest in the local septic tank service companies or mayhap they just aren’t able to empathize with those residences that do not have flushable toilets after extensive rainfall. I was told by officials from the Department of Water and Sanitation that not only would I have to circulate my own petition drive but that it would not even guarantee that Berkley County would find it feasible to make available the services to us.
We are not out in the “Boondocks” we are located only a couple of blocks from “Downtown Goose Creek,” one block away from the Redbank Road/St. James Avenue intersection. We should have the same service available that everyone else has.
Now I understand that not everyone wants to have city sewer service, that’s fine (don’t tap in) but we should all have the choice.
