Marrington second grade students recently studied government – and received a special visit from Goose Creek Mayor Michael Heitzler.

Heitzler visited second grade classes at the school to discuss his job and responsibilities. Heitzler has been the Mayor of Goose Creek for the past 36 years. He was re-elected two weeks ago.

Additionally, he served as Principal of Westview Elementary School for many years.

Following the presentation, the mayor posed with the entire second grade and their teachers, and then with the mayors and counsel members from Lauren Reeder and Rosemary Morris’ classes. Marrington Elementary School is a Berkeley County Public School that is made up primarily of children from military families. Heitzler’s father served in the Marine Corps, so just like all the students, he was once a military child.
