Marrington Elementary School is creating a variety of learning gardens. The first one that has been completed is the “Reading Sanctuary.” This is an outdoor classroom for students to enjoy a beautiful, quiet area for reading and observing nature. Future plans include creating a vegetable garden, an art and observation area, and a recycled garden. Above, MNE students Amy Rudnickas, Bailey Barrett and Sam Seevers read on a tree bench. At right, volunteers from the Naval Munitions Command (NMC) Unit Charleston graciously donate their time and talent to make the dream of this most special environment a reality. (Photo Provided)
