Thinclads compete in Mellow Mushroom Relays

The annual Mellow Mushroom Relays were hosted by Wando High School on Saturday.

The top performances by area athletes were turned in by Goose Creek High School high jumpers Pedro Manigault and Rache McMillan and Stratford’s shuttle hurdle relay team of Chris Allen, KJ Givens, Terik Johnson and Aaron Elderidge.

Manigault and McMillian tied for first in the high jump with efforts of 6-feet, 2-inches.

Stratford’s shuttle hurdle relay set a new school record with a time of 1:03.37 seconds en route to a first-place finish.

Other individual athletes and relays posted top four finishes in the Relays.

Goose Creek’s Shoundell Singleton was second in the triple jump.

Hanahan had a pair of runner-up finishes in the 440-meter shuttle hurdle relay and 1,600-meter relay.

For Cane Bay’s girls, the sprint medley relay team was second.

Third-place finishers were Cane Bay’s Kristen Lattimore in the shot put, Cane Bay’s girls 1,600-meter relay, Goose Creek’s 800-meter relay, Goose Creek’s 1,600-meter relay and Goose Creek’s 400-meter relay.

Hanahan’s Quan Wade was fourth in the discus while teammate Deondre Thompson was fourth in the triple jump. Other fourth-place finishers were Cane Bay’s 1,600-meter relay team and the Cobras’ sprint medley relay team.

The Coaches Classic will be held this Saturday at Spring Valley High School in Columbia.

Bishop England High School’s Father Kelly Classic will be April 5.
