Goose Creek Giant Yard Sale Saturday
Mark your calendars for Saturday, March 29 for the return of the semi-annual Giant Goose Creek Yard Sale. The event will run from 8 a.m. to 12 noon.
Due to the popularity of this event, this year’s yard sale has been moved from the front lawn of the Casey Community Center on Old Moncks Corner Road to the adjacent soccer field to allow for more vendors.
Interested vendors may register for a space at the Casey Community Center. Vendors who are Goose Creek residents can rent a 9 x 9 foot space for $10. Non-residents pay $15 for a space. Vendors must bring their own tables.
For those interested in looking for bargains, the Giant Yard Sale provides a great opportunity to shop for some excellent deals. This event is sponsored by the City of Goose Creek Recreation Department and has been held each spring and fall for more than twenty years. Chicken Dinner fundraiser Saturday
The 40 and 8 of Goose Creek is sponsoring a Chicken Dinner on Saturday, March 29 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at American Legion Post 166, Howe Hall Road in Goose Creek. Cost is $7.50.

‘We the People’ voter drive Saturday
The “We The People” Goose Creek 9-12 Project will hold a voter registration drive on Saturday, March 29 from 9 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. in front of the ATP Gun Shop and Range at 1340 College Park Road in Summerville. If you are not registered to vote or have recently moved to a new address and haven’t changed your voter registration card there is still time to do so before the June primary. Tea Ladies meeting April 2
The Tea Ladies of Goose Creek are holding a meeting on April 2 at 6:30 p.m. at the Berkeley Electric Co-op Building at 2 Springhall Drive in Goose Creek.

‘Joy of the Gospel’ April 6
Immaculate Conception Catholic Church (510 St. James Ave., Goose Creek) will present a Lenten Parish Mission “The Joy of the Gospel.” The Mission will begin on Sunday, April 6, at 7 p.m. in the church. It will continue Monday, April 7 through Wednesday, April 9. Sessions on these three days will be held after the 8:30 a.m. Mass, at 2 p.m. in the afternoon, and at 7 p.m. in the evening. The Tuesday evening session will be especially aimed to the youth.
Tony Melendez along with his ministries team and Brent Heiser of Good News International will be the presenters. All are invited to attend each day.

Lions’ Legends Show April 11
A “Memories of Legends Show” sponsored by the Lions Club is set for 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 11 at The Inn Place at I-26 and Montague Avenue. Cost is $20 per ticket. The show will feature Patsy Cline, George Jones, and many more. Proceeds will benefit the Lions’ Storm Eye program.

‘Easter Rock Hunt’ April 12
It’s a different kind of Easter egg hunt! Children 8 and under can hunt for traditional hidden Easter eggs, plus a few special gold rocks, in a fun event sponsored by the City of Goose Creek Recreation Department on Saturday, April 12, beginning at 11 a.m. at Eubanks Park next to the Casey Community Center.
There will be several hundred eggs to find and children will be separated into different age groups to participate. In additional to the Rock Hunt, children can meet the Easter Bunny for hugs and pictures.
All activities for the children are included with the $1 ticket fee. Tickets must be purchased in advance at either the Goose Creek Community Center or the Casey Center. Tickets are limited, so don’t delay in getting yours.

Easter Festival April 12
Come on out for fun and games at Metro North Church’s Easter Festival and Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 12 (rain or shine) at 2 p.m. Expect games, face painting, refreshments, jump castles, prizes, an egg hunt and more!
This event is open to all and is especially geared toward families. It starts outside with face painting and games. All will go inside to enjoy the Easter Story followed by an egg hunt and egg toss. Three age-appropriate egg hunts are planned: one for children 3 and under, the others for kids 4-7, and 8-11.
LAFRA yard sale April 26
The Ladies Auxiliary of the Fleet Reserve Association will hold a yard sale on Saturday, April 26 from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. Spaces are available for $10.

There will be a bake sale hosted by the Auxiliary, as well as a car wash hosted by the FRA Branch members. Hot dogs will be available for purchase.
In the case of inclimate weather, the event will be moved indoors. The Fleet Reserve is located at 99 Wisteria Road, off Redbank Road just behind Wendy’s. Everyone is invited.
GCUMC free lunch Wednesdays and Fridays; breakfast on Mondays
“Martha’s Breakfast” Soup Kitchen at Goose Creek United Methodist Church (142 Redbank Road) takes place every Monday from 7-9 a.m.
Free lunch is served to all comers on Wednesdays and Fridays from 11 a.m to 1 p.m. at the church fellowship hall. In addition to a friendly atmosphere, the lunches include a menu of homemade soups, sandwiches, desserts, coffee, tea and lemonade.

VFW Steak Night continues
VFW Post 10256/Ladies Auxiliary at 104 Stephanie Drive in Goose Creek holds Steak Night on the fourth Saturday of each month from 6-8 p.m.
Dinner includes one rib-eye steak or chicken with baked potato, salad and a vegetable, and Texas toast. Cost is $10 eat-in, and $11 carryout. Guests are welcome.

Tin Can Sailors meet monthly
The Tin Can Sailors of Goose Creek meet on the fourth Wednesday of every month at 7:30 p.m. at American Legion Post 166 in Goose Creek. This group is open to all Destroyer Sailors and Destroyer Tender Veterans.
You do not have to be a member of the American Legion to attend of the Tin Can Association meetings.

Fleet Reserve meets monthly
The Fleet Reserve Association Lowcountry Branch 269 holds its monthly General Assembly meeting on the third Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. at 99 Wisteria Road in Goose Creek. For the month of October, the meeting is moved to the fourth Thursday.
