Hanahan outscored Goose Creek 24-6 in two high school baseball victories last week, winning 13-3 in five innings at HHS on Wednesday and 11-3 on Friday at GCHS.
In the win on Friday, pitcher Dalton Pate allowed just three hits in six innings for Hanahan and Kevin Acosta led the offense with three hits.
Donnie Roberts and Ridge Hunter collected two hits and two RBIs each. Brandon Caddell added two hits and knocked in one run.
Tyler Rio scattered six hits and allowed five earned runs in four-plus innings for Goose Creek. He struck out six batters.
Christian Sillanpa had two hits for the Gators, a double and triple. Chris Singleton knocked in two runs.
The Stratford Knights picked up a 7-3 win over Woodland on Friday. Mikey White went 3 for 3 for Stratford while pitcher Justin Walker improved to 2-0 on the season.
The win helped Stratford bounce back from a 14-2 loss to Summerville a night earlier.
Track and field
Cane Bay’s girls and Berkeley’s boys won a four-way meet between county teams last week. The Lady Cobras finished with 137 points, ahead of Berkeley (92), Timberland (61) and Goose Creek (51).
Cane Bay’s girls won two of three relays and Jasmine Perez (100 H), Jessica West (800 M), Allie Reynolds (3200 M), Sydney Hickert (pole vault), Heaven Singleton (discus) and Kristen Lattimore (shot put) won individual events.
Alyshia Holloway of Goose Creek won the triple jump and high jump.
The Stags had 141 points, besting Cane Bay (106), Goose Creek (68) and Timberland (30).
The Cobras won two of the three relays while Nakil Tolliver (110 H), Jaleel Williams (100 M), Kevin Bunch (1600 M), Jordan West (400 H) and Jonathan X (long jump) won individual events for Cane Bay.
Akeem Gadsden won the discus for Goose Creek.
The Stratford softball team pounded out 17 hits and defeated Hanahan 7-3. The Lady Knights scored two runs each in the first three innings to take control.
The Stratford soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Ashley Ridge on Thursday.
The Knights were to play Summerville on Tuesday, March 18 but that game was moved to Wednesday, March 19.
Also, a match against Hanahan on Monday was moved to April 2 because of rain
Hanahan’s girls defeated Northwood 2-1 on Thursday. Abby Piedmont and Allison Hernandez had goals for the Lady Hawks. HHS was to play at Orangeburg-Wilkinson on Tuesday.
