The hard work of a local cheerleading team has paid off in a big way.

D&G, a Senior Level 4 All-Cheerleading team from ACX in Summerville, consists of 15 girls, eight of whom are from Goose Creek.

In January they competed at Spirit of Hope Cheerleading Nationals in Charlotte and won first place and the Grand Champions title. That title earned the squad a full paid bid to the Summit Competition, which will be held at Walt Disney World by ESPN Wide World of Sports in May. No other team in the Lowcountry has ever won this bid.

The team competed at NCA Cheerleading Nationals in Dallas, TX March 1-2, which is the largest cheerleading competition in the world, and won first place there. This is the first time a team from South Carolina has ever won the NCA event.

The team is coached by Saundra Guerard and Kyle Wright.
